Pet sitting checklist: what to prepare before you travel
Everything to prepare for your pet sitter before a trip, from food and medicine to emergency contacts and typhoon-season plans.
2 min read ·

A smooth sitting starts before you leave. Go through this list a few days ahead, and your sitter will have everything they need to keep your pet happy and safe.
Food and water
- Enough food for the whole booking, plus two or three extra days in case your flight is delayed.
- Written portions and feeding times. "One cup at 7 AM and 6 PM" is better than "feed twice a day".
- Treats, and a clear list of foods your pet must not have.
- Clean water bowls and where to refill them.
Medicine and health
- Any medication, with the dose, time and how to give it (in food, by mouth, drops).
- Your vet's name, clinic address and phone number, and the nearest 24-hour animal hospital.
- Proof of your pet's anti-rabies vaccination and other vaccines.
- A note of anything unusual to watch for: allergies, past illnesses, signs that your pet is unwell.
Home and routine
- Leash, harness, poop bags, litter and scoop, cleaning supplies.
- Your pet's daily routine: walk times, play, where they sleep, what calms them down.
- House rules: rooms that are off limits, whether your pet is allowed on furniture.
- Building access for condos: tell the admin office or guards, and leave the sitter's name if needed.
Contacts and permissions
- Your phone number and a backup contact who lives nearby.
- Permission for the sitter to bring your pet to the vet in an emergency, and how the bill will be paid.
Typhoon and rainy season
- Extra food, water and medicine in case roads close.
- A dry, safe room for your pet and a plan if the power goes out.
- A flashlight and an emergency number your sitter can reach.
On PurrfectBuddy
Add feeding, care and medical notes to your pet's profile once and they appear on every booking, so you never have to repeat yourself. Keep chatting with your sitter in the app during the trip, and if you need longer, ask for more time right from the booking: the sitter accepts and the timer extends.
